Package 1: Getting Work

This career coaching service is for those who are not working and looking for a new role, be it full time, part time or contract.  Many people find themselves out of employment due to redundancy, raising family, relocating or indeed taking time off to travel or for other personal reasons.  It poses its own problems and pressues.

Session 1

We discuss a couple of things first:

  • Career to date and how this impacts job search
  • Personal belief systems, motivation, destructive patterns and barriers to success in job hunting
  • Personal traits and talents-what you are good at*
  • Brief look at communications in getting a job: CV preparation, presentation, effective communication and networking
  • Creating an action plan that is yours and one which you can identify with
  • Carrying out the plan

Session 2

Then we will move more specifically to CV and presentation of you as a brand (through LinkedIn and other networking channels) as appropriate to your case.  This will give you more confidence and feeling you are presenting yourself in the best light.  Strategies for getting to the right people are also a big focus in this session

Session 3

Lastly, we focus on interview and being an effective communicator under pressure.  This will involve roleplay and the creation and acting out of your “blueprint” which is the basis for you to sell yourself in any interview

Session 4+

Keeping focus and momentum

Package 2: Getting Better Work

This is for those who find themselves in a "rut", dealing with dead end or badly paid jobs or with personnel you would rather not be around.

A Gallup poll identified up to 85% of employees worldwide are disengaged with their work.  12% of employees leave their jobs because of money. 58% trust strangers more than there own boss. 53% of Americans are unhappy at work.  Pick any statistic on work satisfaction and there is always going to be those who cannot stand where they work.  Nevertheless moving job is stressful and most would prefer not to do it if possible.  This is why people put up with so much that they do not like.  There is a huge fear of the unknown. This coaching is not simply to help you move employer.  Sometimes you repeat patterns in employers which may put you in the same position in the future.  It might just be the time to address behaviours that are not serving you.  There may be a lot more at stake and some reflection is needed.

Session 1

We discuss a couple of things first and may include:

  • Career to date and how this is fitting into your career goal for yourself.  What is this goal?
  • Personal traits and talents-what you are good at*
  • Your actual current job, what you do, what you are paid, who you work with, what your values and beliefs are and are they being honored
  • Conflict at work, identifying, counteracting it and avoiding it
  • Deciding to stay or go
  • Creating an action plan that is yours and one which you can identify with
  • Preparing the springboard: CV preparation, presentation, effective communication and networking
  • Carrying out the plan.  Begin accountable and gaining momentum

Session 2

Once your goal of “stay or go” has been clarified we start to work on a plan of action on how to move forward.  Manoeuvering yourself to a better position, salary or location may be the goal or indeed seeking to move to another employer.  The steps to get there will be analysed and you will be accounable for these steps

Session 3

Moving towards your goal.  This session and perhaps subsequent sessions will involve following your realistic steps to achieve what you are looking for, being held to account by the coach and dealing with barriers and tough times on the way.

Session 4+

Taken as appropriate to keep focus and momentum

Package 3: CV strip and rebuild

Package 3 CV Rebuild:

Your CV is the key you use to open the different career doors you want to go through. Wrong size, shape or makeup of the key keeps you outside those doors. I have seen many many CVs which are not clear, too long, badly structured and do not convey the ESSENCE and VALUE of a person. The CV is an extension of your “pitch” and should be something that you are proud of, confident in discussing and know it intimately.  It supports you in the interview and keeps you on track by showcasing your talents and funneling your thoughts.

Package 3 is 2 coaching sessions covering CV rebuild:

  • Clear “profile” or personal statement reflecting your values, skills, attitude, education and experience
  • Overhaul of language and structure for maximum impact to sell yourself
  • Bringing your past with you (what an employer/recruitment consultant/in company recruiter looks for)
  • Get length and “story” correct (including dealing with CV gaps, redundancy, illness, dismissal, stress leave)
  • Carrying out the plan.  Using the CV
  • Other issues (Cover letters, different CV versions, Linkedin etc.)

Price for two sessions with follow up and support with applications
